SPM delivers equipment to ScottishPower under ALSTOM Norway's largest contract ever
In 2006, ALSTOM Norway AS and consortium partner AMEC won a £170 million environmental contract at Longannet power station in Scotland. ALSTOM supplies a seawater flue gas desulphurization system, reducing sulphur dioxide emissions from the plant in line with the EU's Large Combustion Plant Directive.
SPM Norway is a sub contractor and supplies condition monitoring equipment consisting of MG4s with shock pulse and vibration transducers and cabling for use on 4 sea water pumps with motors and 13 blowers with motors. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2009.
Longannet Power Station, located some 20 miles west of Edinburgh, is the second largest coal-fired power station in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. The station has four 600 MW units, generating over 25% of Scotland´s annual electricity demand.
