Clean water is vital for health, the environment, and industry – all of which require reliable water supply systems. At Mülheim Styrum-East waterworks in Germany, online monitoring detected vibration anomalies in an electric motor driving a drinking water pump.
Measurements with the Intellinova Parallel EN system showed high velocity values at the resonance frequency on both sides of the electric motor. Supplementary measurements and follow-up analysis revealed structural weakness. Cross braces were added to stiffen the machine frame, resolving the issue.
Mülheim Styrum-East is operated by RWW, one of Germany's largest water suppliers that delivers 70 million cubic meters of water annually to 900,000 people and industries. This case highlights the benefits of condition monitoring in ensuring operational efficiency and enabling proactive maintenance.
