Severn Trent Water partnered with SPM to evaluate pump performance optimization at Campion Hills Water Treatment Works. Real-time insight across varying operating conditions showed how process optimization can reduce energy use, improve efficiency, and support long-term asset strategy.
SPM installed a monitoring solution to capture vibration, shock pulse, and speed data during daily fluctuations in flow and demand. The Intellinova Parallel EN system, equipped with DuoTech accelerometers, collects high-resolution vibration and shock pulse measurements. Speed data from a tachometer enables the analysis of operation relative to the true Best Efficiency Point. Measurements are processed in Condmaster and presented in a web dashboard.
The monitoring system provides visibility of real energy use, cost, and pump efficiency, helping operators adjust settings and verify improvements using measured data. Operating closer to BEP reduces mechanical stress and energy use, supporting lower operational cost and measurable carbon reduction, while also reducing Total Cost of Ownership over the asset life.
