Success story: Condition monitoring prevents main bearing damage in PET bottle filler

Using Intellinova Compact for condition monitoring with SPM HD® and LR/HR shock pulse methods, abnormal loading was identified in the main bearing of a PET bottle filler. The analysis revealed uneven load distribution caused by a swollen drive pinion, enabling early corrective action before significant damage occurred.

Application and monitoring setup

A blowfill system with a 12-position bottle blower and a 120-head PET bottle filler was monitored using an Intellinova Compact system. Condition monitoring was applied to critical components, including the main slew bearing, using the SPM HD® and LR/HR shock pulse methods, supported by vibration analysis and speed measurement.

Results and benefits

Condition monitoring identified an uneven load distribution in the slew bearing due to a swollen drive pinion. The issue was detected at an early stage, enabling corrective action before significant damage occurred. This avoided unplanned downtime, reduced the risk of costly repairs, and ensured continued production stability.
